Crappest game, ever! That's sweet. I'm lucky to have a copy of it.

Am I the ONLY person who liked this game? I might be.

It was probably Atari's last Christmas.

And what is this California Condor? And as you may know, ever since Christmas 1982, the whole video games industry (in America at the very least) was in a blackout for two years (ala the Video Game Crash). All thanks to this accursed Atari abomination.

A rare bird in CA that was almost extinct over 20 years ago when the surviving population was no more that 50. On the downside, these birds only produce an egg every 2 years on average. Now, they gingerly have recovered a smidgen to over 200 birds. And yes, Atari lost hundreds of millions over this crap game. It was one of the factors that led to filing a chapter 11 and then later a chapter 7.

Yes, and mind you, this is not the ONLY commercial for the ET game.

It sort of makes more sense about the crappiness of this game when you consider the nature of E.T. himself. After all, he may have been another mentally handicapped version of his species who got lost, like Humprey the Wrong Way Whale, and got nearly caught with his gang by government agents that spotted his gang harvesting some of the local bush for their own 'medicinal' purposes. E.T. Get High!!! E.T. Got Bush!!! E.T. Get High!!!

Which also makes me wonder if the game developers from this craptastic classic were on something. That's if they have enough remaining active brain cells to initiate the complex coordination of moving the fingers to type programs on a keyboard.

What do you get when a game developer has just six months to make a game that's based on Spielberg's emotional masterpiece? It's not the developer's fault. It's all due to Atari's corporate stupidity, greed, unrealistic deadlines, and bad license usage.

Hey, you're right about Atari being over their heads. I've heard many a horror tale of their HR (then Personne) Dept. doing a craptastic job in handling harassment cases from female employees. Working for Atari was no equal opportunity picnic. Plus, we take for granted in the game industry of quality control within console developers and their game distributors. This was years before Nintendo stamped an approval sticker to the majority of its titles.

Not to mention, we take for granted the value of having a 'test audience.' I just found out that Atari itself passed up an audience testing.
