| foxmuldr ::: Favorites 2007-08-26 16:02:36 helgihg, you're asking the wrong questions. We see everything now only as through a glass darkly. Our intelligence will fail us. Our reasoning will fail us. Everything in our flesh will fail us. We must turn to the spirit portion of our being and embrace it, for in so doing we will seek God for God is spirit. There's so much to this, helgihg. I pray you will keep seeking for God has promised those who seek shall find. Be blessed. __________________________________________________ | |

| gklr ::: Favorites 2007-08-26 18:54:07 If you reject the logic of man, then you must reject that too. If you pray for others, you either believe God is not all-knowing, or that God changes his mind about what he knows already. ie: praying for anything other than worship proves you don't believe in an all-knowing and unchanging God. __________________________________________________ | |
| foxmuldr ::: Favorites 2007-08-26 21:01:01 The logic of man will fail you, gklr. Our reasoning, our ways, our manner of thinking is not consistent with God's. God allows babies to die, and yet it is right. God allows wars to be raged, and yet it is right. We don't see with big enough eyes to have any sort of handle on what is truly going on. We only do what God has asked us to do through his holy word. And it is from there we pray for others. __________________________________________________ | |

| Katalyzt ::: Favorites 2007-08-26 23:04:44 No one will come to you claiming that. But, if someone actually does comes to you saying that they are, (or that they found) an atheist creationist, then they are a liar.... Err.... I mean a christian.... Umm... I mean a muslim.... No a theist! ;o) ★★★★★ Katalyzt __________________________________________________ | |
| helgihg ::: Favorites 2007-08-26 23:57:55 foxmuldr: I suggest reading up on the scientific method. You will find that its entire purpose *is to eliminate our human fallacies*. You're 100% right, our intelligence isn't enough, we make mistakes, we do test bias, we assume conclusions and so forth, and *that's why we have the scientific method*, to *prevent* us from doing those extremely common mistakes. Contrast that with religion, where it's heroic to believe despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. __________________________________________________ | |
| gklr ::: Favorites 2007-08-27 01:04:38 I do not believe you understood me. If you reason that your reason is no good, that is also no good. If you toss out what you think, then you can't toss out what you think or you must accept what you think. __________________________________________________ | |
| foxmuldr ::: Favorites 2007-08-27 07:40:59 I'm not saying the method itself is flawed. It might be wholly accurate in dealing with the universe as we perceive it. I'm telling you there is a component to our existence which defies our flesh-based understanding, and it is that component which is the real truth, not that which we can "see" and "test" and "experience". It comes from the spirit and is of God, ie the real truth. 1 Cor 2:14, 1 Cor 3:19. __________________________________________________ | |
| foxmuldr ::: Favorites 2007-08-27 07:42:19 gklr, I understood. My point is that we cannot trust ourselves nor our minds. God gave them to us to deal with this world, but they will not save you. You cannot reason your way to salvation. It comes by an act of God, one approached through faith wrapped in repentence. We recognize that we do not have it right, and that God does. We submit ourselves to his will because of that faith. __________________________________________________ | |
| gklr ::: Favorites 2007-08-27 08:20:33 The only way to realize a God is with our mind, so if you are going to toss out human logic then toss out the human logic that says there is a God. I seriously do not see comprehension of this point yet. __________________________________________________ | |
| foxmuldr ::: Favorites 2007-08-27 08:24:39 gklr, God is spirit. We are component beings: flesh, soul, spirit. If we listen to our flesh then we are using our mind. If we listen to our spirit, then we act in faith because we cannot touch the spirit. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. To quote something from our day: "You must unlearn what you have learned." 1 Cor 2:14, 1 Cor 3:19. __________________________________________________ | |
| gklr ::: Favorites 2007-08-27 08:33:17 If you understand me at all, then you do so using mans logic. If you comprehend the bible at all, you do so using logic. If you can hear at all, is is via logic that you know you hear. To maintain what you do is to say no meaning can be known. It defeats itself. __________________________________________________ | |
| foxmuldr ::: Favorites 2007-08-27 08:38:17 True meaning comes from only one source: God's spirit. There were two trees in the midst of the garden, the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (the tree of death). We are not alive right now, unless we are born of the spirit. And when we are born of the spirit, we have a new component to our being which cannot be explained to someone who does not have it. __________________________________________________ | |
| foxmuldr ::: Favorites 2007-08-27 08:39:32 gklr, It's like trying to explain to a non-parent what it's like to be a parent. You can use lots and lots of words and examples, and they can think they have an idea. But until they become parents themselves they will never know what was being discussed. It's the same with being born of the spirit. A reasoning mind only operates in this world. A spiritual discernment accesses God's truth. __________________________________________________ | |
