| carcosa ::: Favorites 2007-09-08 18:20:57 These guys all need to get away from the whole scale as a musical idiom. No matter how you play it it ends up sounding cliched. Rusty is god but the cadenzas are just played out and nonmusical IMO. Friedman is much mobetta from a standpoint of musical creativity. __________________________________________________ | |
| jonnybarvo ::: Favorites 2007-06-26 15:26:30 Its difficult to evoke empotion when playing such complex arrangements at high speeds. But look at Paganini or Korsakov, both classical composers who created (and played in the case of Paganini) very fast, complex compositions. Now you can't tell me neither of them expressed emotion! This is just Rusty's way of writing and playing and he is quite good at it. __________________________________________________ | |
| amerijuanican ::: Favorites 2007-06-23 19:45:01 Dedication is one of the most complex emotions ever. This man has it, SRV had it, and he was in a different class. __________________________________________________ | |
| amerijuanican ::: Favorites 2007-06-23 19:43:35 Different people perceive different types of music as Emotion. If you're truly a serious musician, you don't make idiotic immature remarks on the lack of Emotion. You try to understand what the artist was trying to accomplish, rather it be playing a blistering solo, a mellow blues piece. There is ALWAYS something to learn, I guarantee you if Rusty sat down and was listening to something he didn't "like" as music he wanted to listen to, he'd still pay attention and attempt to learn what he could. __________________________________________________ | |
| ExarKunAM ::: Favorites 2007-06-10 19:54:11 WTF? Alexi Laiho is so damn far away from the level of Rusty Cooley, even if he will practice every day for the rest of his life, he'll never reach this state of sickness. There is NO ONE out there who gonna out-sweep Rusty. And you can't compare Joe Satriani and Steve Vai to guys like Rusty, because it's a total different style/type of music and there style differs alot from that whole shred-stuff. __________________________________________________ | |
| Dimerulesheavy ::: Favorites 2007-05-03 11:23:55 ye... but speed isn't everything... i look for scales, arpeggios, chords and technical studies in a guitarist as well as melodical notes so yea he's as good as everything but he can't beat the technique of people like tony hernando, steve vai, joe satriani and alexi laiho... if you know what i mean... __________________________________________________ | |
| manataxe ::: Favorites 2007-05-03 11:19:02 if speed is what you live for then rustys your man!!! __________________________________________________ | |
| Dimerulesheavy ::: Favorites 2007-05-03 09:57:56 you're welcome... but of course anyone who knows arpeggio shapes can... buta as you say not at that speed... that's why i think he's special but not that tecnical... __________________________________________________ | |
| rfd708 ::: Favorites 2007-05-02 23:07:47 Dude, I want a wall of cabs like that! __________________________________________________ | |
| carcosa ::: Favorites 2007-05-01 23:32:57 One criticism: I think maybe he could pimp Dean guitars a little bit harder, he only mentions them 40 times on every video. Not that I'm complaining, these are awesome... __________________________________________________ | |
| manataxe ::: Favorites 2007-05-01 17:51:50 to that, sure i can play it.anybody who know basic arpeggio shapes can!!anybody whos practiced alternate pickin can.not at that speed though.you see i passed that comment because MetalKen said it was really technical.dont get me wrong i think rustys a great player, not much of musician, just very proficient on the guitar.thats all. thanks for the kind translation though. __________________________________________________ | |
| Dimerulesheavy ::: Favorites 2007-05-01 12:37:25 well fucking learn it asshole... he says ok so you also know how to play it then?, what are we gonna do... __________________________________________________ | |
| EricCW ::: Favorites 2007-04-29 19:07:03 who cares how difficult/technically-flairy his songs are? As long as they sound good, he's got it bagged. And this song sounds good. __________________________________________________ | |
| pottsi39 ::: Favorites 2007-04-29 17:51:13 manataxe yes his arpeggios arent technically challenging until u put them at his speed then u die of melted hands __________________________________________________ | |
| manataxe ::: Favorites 2007-04-29 11:18:49 im sorry i dont understand your language. __________________________________________________ | |
