Description:

A family of Hornets have built a nest in the stable block at the Sanctuary. Whilst they can cause a painful sting they will only attack if they are themselves attacked or feel that their nest is under attack - so following a philosophy of live & let live... & yes I have been stung when I forgot they were there & threw a piece of wood against the wall of the stables - the vibrations set them off & three of them got me on the head & face ! No, I didn't kill them, it wasn't their fault after all, and yes it hurt like ****

Yes it is like a needle, but unlike a needle it grows in pain & there is not a lot you can do about it! I put my head under a cold tap which seemed to help. The stings on my head went off after a few hours, but the one on my cheek/neck was painful. I think the poison sinks into the tissue, so on the head there isn't much to sink into, but on the side of your face it seeps into the glands under your jaw & felt like mumps. Took a few days to go & left a lump for about 10 days - nice ! (not)

got enough room for your car inside the barn for a good shot if so drive inside make sure all windows are up and shoot them FROM the other side of your car and take a shotgun and blast them and get in the car and ya be safe from them fuckers and dont worry about your gun... shoot em drop it and get it later and do make sure ya get it on video

But why kill them? they aren't doing any harm. They keep themselves to themselves & are quite rare - which given that most of the rest of the videos on this place about Hornets are about people killing them, isn't suprising. They control a lot of garden pests too. Thanks for the suggestion, but I think I'll pass on that one
