chad0war, excellent point.. nothing to add more by my self - just true, Tyler Bates deserve every respect! We are thankful that he used the accords of Zajdi, zajdi, and we'll be even more thankful if he uses again - every credits goes to Tyler Bates -- a truly lesson to all other domestic compositors how should compose modern compositions based on that treasury of the folklore accords! Nothing more to add:)

This song isn't written in any language. And though the music is definitely based on the music in Zajdi Zajdi, it isn't the same. This song is slower and more haunting. It was inspired by Macedonian/Bulgarian music, and created to fit a role in the movie and capture the emotion of it, just as an actor would. And thus, is an artistic creation by Tyler Bates. This is NOT Zajdi Zajdi, and no credit is required.

FYROM people claim that the song was written by a guy called Sarievski or something. So, he died in 2002 and apparently lived some 250 years because the first record of this song is dated 1878...No comment...

From: Tyler Bates - The composer of the movie "300" responding to Macedonian claims "As the composer of the music titled ?Message For The Queen,? I would like to make it clear that while the introduction expresses the woodwind melody present in many recorded versions of the song "Zajdi, Zajdi Jasno Sonce," this music is equally based on Bulgarian traditional folk music." First lyric record of the song was published in Turnovo (Bulgaria) by Ljuben Karavelov in 1878.
